Dun Laoghaire Youth Laser Coaching Programme: Autumn / Winter 2019

Dun Laoghaire Youth Laser Coaching Programme: Autumn / Winter 2019

The next coaching is on November (3, 10, 17, 24) €120

The Dun Laoghaire Youth Laser training program will be run as a collaboration between RSGYC and NYC and once again we are fortunate to have two excellent local coaches head up the program:  Conor O’Beirne will be running the 4.7’s and we have Nicole Hemeryck on the Radials.

We intend grouping sailors to maintain a coach-to-sailor ratio of around six and expect to have two to three 4.7 groups and one group of radials.  A group of up to 20 sailors will allow for “big fleet” coaching and also bring a social aspect to the program.  Click here to sign up online.

Sail with NYC Solo Sailor Tom Dolan on-board his foiling Figaro 3 this October & raise funds for ‘Sailing into Wellness’

CANCELLATION

Tom has been on standby in Concarneau for  the last  week  waiting to bring the Figaro 3 to Dublin.

The weather has been poor  and  is set to deteriorated further with the expected arrival of Hurricane Lorenzo later this week.

Having looked at all the options , Tom has reluctantly  Decided to cancel the  trip. He is really disappointed but safely is always the first consideration.

-------------------

Tom Dolan and his Figaro 3 are available (sailing out of NYC) from Tuesday 1st of October to Friday 11th October for corporate entertainment.

All funds raised through this initiative will go towards Sailing into Wellness, an award winning programme which uses the experiences of sailing to help create stable lives for people suffering from poor mental health, addiction and social exclusion.

The Figaro can host up to 6 guests for a 3 hour sail and 'Sailing into Wellness' is seeking donations of a minimum of €600  for each 3 hour booking.

National Yacht Club’s New Elliot Keelboat Fleet Get 2K Team Racing Test

National Yacht Club’s New Elliot Keelboat Fleet Get 2K Team Racing Test

The National Yacht Club’s new fleet of Elliot 6 high-performance keelboats were in action last weekend in Dun Laoghaire for a 2K team racing invitational writes Roisin O'Brien

30 sailors took to the water in Dun Laoghaire Harbour for the day, including teams from The National Yacht Club (U30 and U25 teams), The Royal St George Yacht Club, Royal Cork Yacht Club, and the Sorento Sailing Club from Australia who travelled for the event.

The light, shifty conditions made for challenging racing, and an ever-changing race course where sharp tactics made all the difference. Luckily the wind picked up as the day went on and the teams successfully completed two round robins overall.

The first of many mini events to come making use of the new fleet on the block, the Elliot 6’s, known for their match racing, adapted well to the 2K racing format which was fast paced and kept competitors on their toes.
