Update on the Topper Traveller Rush
Topper Traveller Number 5 Rush Sailing Club
The National Yacht Club was represented by Adam Irvin, Eoghan Turner, Deirdre Turner, Caoimhe Seymour, Mathew O'Brien Holohan and Hugh O'Connor at the Topper Traveller in Rush on Sunday 9th September . Conditions were challenging, windy and gusty. Sixty two competitors signed up for the event which was a fantastic number for the final Topper Traveller in the series.

We plan on having a parents meeting at 7.30pm next Wednesday for Topper Parents to inform them of the Winter programme. We would like to invite all topper Parents and potential Topper Parents to this night.

NYC Optimist Programme – 2018 – 2019
We are delighted to offer Main Fleet sailors instruction catered to their needs. Areas of focus will include:
- Introduction to main fleet regattas
- Confidence building
- Improving boat handling skills
- Developing tactics
- Perfecting racing skills
- Focusing on physical, technical, tactical and mental training
- Preparing for regattas and qualifiers

303 Masters from 25 Countries to Compete in Laser Master Worlds starting 8th September
39 Irish Laser Masters will join the 303 boats fleet and compete in the biggest sailing event in Ireland this summer.
The two Laser rigs are more or less equally represented with 160 competitors in the Standard Rig and 143 in the smaller Radial.
Competitors are further sub-divided into age groups (35>44 yrs, 45>54 yrs, 55>64 yrs, 65+ and...75+!!!) but it is largely a male only affair with only 18 ladies entered...

NYC Rian Geraghty McDonnell Achieves 16th place in Gold Fleet in The World Optimist Championships
Rian Geraghty McDonnell of the NYC Dunlaoighre, Dublin along with 4 other talented sailors (James Dwyer Matthews, Justin Lucas, Harry Twoomey and Michael Crosbie all from Cork represented Ireland at the World Optimist Championships in Cyprus. Rian came away in 16th place in Gold Fleet and top Irish Sailor at the event.
This weekend Rian will move into his next challenge â the 29er â and he hopes to continue to learn and improve on his Sailing skills in this class.
He has had a wonderful 9 years of Sailing and competing internationally in his opti and he is very grateful to the class and all his coaches throughout this wonderful journey.
End of Summer Season Members Race – Thursday 6th September
Our Club's End of Season fun race will take place on Thursday 6th September! The Race is open to all Yachts & Dinghies that are owned or helmed by a member of the NYC.
Entries are free of charge but we will use this social gathering to run a small fund raising campaign for the RNLI...
