Sports psychology has traditionally been viewed as only having application to high performance or professional sports.  However, many of the techniques in sport psychology have just as much relevance for recreational athletes and also can be applied to our personal and professional lives.  We will hear from these professional sailors about their approach to sport psychology and how resilience forms an essential part of this.

This coaching clinic will be jointly hosted by RSCYC and NYC.
NYC sailors should sign up using the NYC link; All other sailors should sign up using the RSGYC link

Is this program for you?
The coaching is designed for sailors who wish to improve their racing skills for competition in Regional and National events. Our group are typically 14 to 17 years of age and weigh upward of around 53kg. New entrants who previously competed in Optimists or Toppers are welcome. If sailors are unsure, we are happy to have them join the group on a trial basis to “try out”. Less confident sailors can opt out of the heavy wind sessions. With the 4.7 worlds scheduled for Dun Laoghaire in summer 2021, this is an ideal opportunity for aspiring sailors to gain international experience.

Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2021 Announces Format Changes for July Event on Dublin Bay

Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2021 Announces Format Changes for July Event on Dublin Bay

Dun Laoghaire Harbour's combined waterfront yachts clubs have announced the continued title sponsorship by Volvo Car Ireland of next July's Dun Laoghaire Regatta and a new format for Ireland's top sailing event.

In order to facilitate social distancing and be Covid-19 compliant a new regatta format will comprise a One Design Championship (2nd – 4th July 2021) specifically tailored for sailors in the one-design keelboat and dinghy classes. This to be followed by an Open Cruiser Championship (8th – 11th July 2021) catering for the full range of Cruiser Handicap classes.

'The sponsorship announcement coupled with the significant format changes to VDLR 2021, will give sailors, sponsors, classes and the four waterfront clubs certainty in planning ahead for the 2021 season', says chairman of the organisers, Don O'Dowd.
