Top 10 finishes for NYC Sailors in the National Laser Championships.
This yearâs Irish Laser National Championships was hosted by Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven, Cork from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd of August. The 88 competitors across the 3 fleets battled in challenging conditions from very strong winds of 35 knots+ which almost flattened the fleet on Friday and racing was abandoned to no wind at all where racing had to be cancelled on the final day. The fleet managed 8 races in total which gave sailors one discard.

The dates for the upcoming DBSC September Junior Series are as follows:

Sunday Sept 19th
Sunday Sept 26th.
We are taking a break on 5th September due to the hosting of the ICRA Nationals in the NYC and of an Optimist Class event on 4th and 5th September in the RSGYC.
There will be 3 races back to back inside the harbour each Sunday, first gun at 2pm. Prize giving and food for competitors will take place in NYC on last Sunday of series. Winners of each fleet will be invited to attend the annual DBSC prize giving in RStGYC where they will be awarded one of the DBSC perpetual prizes.
This series is a great way to stretch out the summer and practice racing skills learnt during the summer in a safe and fun environment.
We will be looking for parent volunteers to help on and off the water each Sunday. You can volunteer for your Club (DMYC, RIYC, RSGYC, NYC) using the entry form below, otherwise if you have any questions please contact Sarah Gorman.
Coaching for Optimist sailors during the September series
The National Yacht Club will be providing coaching for Optimist Sailors for four Sunday afternoons 13:00 â 16:00

Laser 4.7 Worlds wrap up
Latvian and Italian sailors were crowned ILCA Laser 4.7 Youth World Championships at DĂșn Laoghaire Harbour on Saturday following a week-long competition on Dublin Bay.
More than 230 competitors representing 31 countries competed in the largest international sporting event taking place in Ireland this year.

As you know, the National Yacht Club is co-hosting the Laser 4.7 Youth World Championships this week, with the final day of racing on Saturday August 14th. There will be 112 Laser's coming ashore on the slip in the afternoon, most likely in the period 15:00 - 17:00...

Expression of interest for TY 2021/2022 programme
The TY Sailing Members Program has run for a number of years now, very successfully between the Dun Laoghaire clubs and has proved to be a great way to keep our teenagers involved in sailing, prepare them for instructing and build lifelong friendships so we really hope they get involved.
Please note that the TY Program can only run if supported by volunteer parents. We will be looking for your assistance throughout the year and you will also be asked to volunteer during individual course registration sign ups.
