NYC Optimist Development Programme â Winter 2021
The Optimist Development programme is aimed at sailors who aim to compete in events and other competitions in 2022. We believe there is demand for a performance group and a development group. The performance group will consist of already experienced sailors who have competition experience, but did not meet the IODAI rankings in 2021 and qualify for the DOGS Winter training, and also the sailors moving from regatta fleet to main fleet in 2022 competitions.
While there is a focus on development and performance, our plan is based on the NYCâs core values of family, friendship and sporting excellence.
All sailors and parents MUST READ AND ADHERE TO the Club's code of conduct to encourage good behaviour and camaraderie: Code-of-Behaviour

Platform Clearance
Dear Summer Platform Parking users.
The Summer Platform Parking Season is coming to an end and we need a total platform clearance of all the dinghies and other types currently on the deck to make room for the lift-out which is scheduled for Saturday 16th October.
If your boat is not in use in one of the Club organised training, anymore please make sure to come and collect it as soon as possible as the skeleton boathouse staff needs to reconfigure the platform well in advance of the lift-out to make room for cradles deliveries from Monday 11th October
ALL dinghies (optimists / Toppers / Lasers / Topaz / Vagos / 29ers / Fireballs / RS 400 / RS 200 etc...) must be removed by Sunday 10th October 18:00 at the very latest.
Please note that we do not have room to store any boat even temporarily on the Carlisle Pier and cannot facilitate any such request!
The Committee is currently reviewing the UNPRECEDENTED HIGH DEMAND for platform space from the various user groups this winter (junior dinghy sailors / adult dinghy sailors / single handed / 2 handed boats / keelboat winter storage) and will have to limit the various classes of boats to strict numbers. An online winter platform parking application form reflecting the fact that demand will outstrip supply will be issued shortly.
Opi Ulster championship in East Antrim Boat club – 18&19th of september
The really friendly East Antrim Boat Club hosted the Iodai Ulster Championship last weekend. The event which counts as an IODAI ranking event saw 60 sailors compete across 3 fleets.
In very light wind on saturday and 7-10 knots on sunday, sailors managed to complete a fantastic event.
