Quiz update
Following the quiz on Wednesday night (12 March), everything is poised for an epic finish to the season when the final quiz takes place in two weeks. On Wednesday, the Corner Boys took a commanding lead after the forewarned round on academy awards, and never looked back. Reigning champions Wizard took second place to set up a clash for the ages when the quiz goes down to the wire. The other places went to Enchantress, Teamtastic and T.B.M., for each of whom the ambition of capturing the Brains of the Bay trophy must now be extinguished.
Wizard retain their top spot in the overall Leaderboard (below), but with the impact of discards, the competition is set up for a show-down. For Wizard and the Corner Boys in two weeksâ time, âif you win, you win!â. The Quizmaster, when contacted in their winter residence in Morocco, sent congratulations to the Corner Boys, but was reluctant to call the winner next week: âI have always felt that it would be close over the final weeksâ, she (or he) said. âWizard and the Corner Boys are former Brains of the Bay champions, so they know what it takes to stay in the fight over a full season. For the final quiz, I will set the questions to be as fair as possible, so it is difficult to know who will win outâ. âI think,â she (or he) said, somewhat bluntly, âthat luck may a play a part in the final destination of the trophy. I wish all teams the best for the final.â
Editor adds: If, at the final quiz, either Wizard or the Corner Boys win on the night, they will finish top of the Overall Leaderboard and win the Brains of the Bay. If the Corner Boys finish second on the night, and Wizard finish no better than second, both teams will be tied on the Overall Leaderboard. In that event, there will be a play-off round to determine the Brains of the Bay champion. A play-off round will comprise 5 questions.
The final quiz on Wednesday 26 March is a dinner-quiz (7.00 for 7.30) with the quiz starting at 8.30, after which the Commodore will present the Brains of the Bay trophy to the winners. All are welcome to participate. For those teams intending to dine, please let the Club know in advance, so that they can cater for numbers.

Next Wednesday at 7:30 on 19 March is our last Toolbox Talk of the series which is being led by John Leahy.
John gave us an overview of weather forecasting in November and is coming back to expand on this, while also covering online forecasting.
To this end, John will be discussing the attached weather chart which is next Wednesdayâs forecast.
We do hope you can join us in the JB room for what promises to be an enlightening discussion.
Early bird is available in the bar beforehand!
