COMMODORE RAISES CHRISTMAS TOAST TO SALUTE SHANAHAN FAMILY ARC SUCCESS.

This year’s National Yacht Club Christmas dinners were an outstanding success – with over 200 members generously supporting the Vice Commodore and Commodore’s dinner and raising funds (over €2,000) for the Blackrock Hospice.

Commodore Roan Beirne rounded off his dinner last Saturday by raising a toast to the Shanahan family to mark their outstanding achievement in completing the Trans -Atlantic Crossing (ARC) in their new Oyster yacht Ruth 11

Ruth 11 and her crew, led by Liam Shanahan, docked in St Lucia, proudly flying the National YC ensign.  Almost concurrently, the main room in Dun Laoghaire rose to respond to the Commodore’s toast to their magnificent achievement.

Well done to Manager Tim O’Brien, and Chef Cormac and their teams for splendid catering in the run up to the New Year.

The National YC Choir, under the baton of Ray Duggan, provided a wonderful musical backdrop to the evening

Last week we also hosted a visit from the new owner of Oyster Yachts, Richard Hadida, who came to explore linkages between the club and the iconic brand. Richard toured the club and met the Commodore and Vice Commodore, who were joined by Con Murphy to consider options.
