Opti Orange Valencia Adventures for NYC sailors

Jan 18, 2022 | Junior Sailing

A group of National Yacht Club Optimist sailors are planning to travel to Valencia, Spain this March to participate in the Opti Orange Valencia regatta. Valencia is one of the popular Clubs for warm weather sailing and this event marks the beginning of the Optimist sailing season for many sailors.

The Regatta is organised by St Petersburg Yacht Club and Real Club NĂĄutico Valencia (RCNV) from March 3rd – 6th 2022. Competitors from all over Europe and around the World have registered for this event and it is a great opportunity for international teams to travel and compete on the water.

Estela Rosique Mingarro, a member of both the RCNV and the NYC is delighted that so many sailors have signed up, “Valencia is a wonderful place to sail and I’m thrilled that this is our inaugural trip to Spain as a group from the National YC. Our famous Las Fallas (the fire festival) also takes place at this time so, it’s going to keep everyone busy both on and off the water”.

Thomas Chaix will be travelling with the Group as the lead coach for this event.

“I am delighted that Estella has organised a group of NYC parents to travel together to her home sailing club. It’s great that many of our active members are planning this trip and it will hopefully be a great opportunity for our sailors to meet their international sailing contemporaries,” said National Yacht Club Commodore Conor O’Regan.

The Notice of Race (NOR) and more details are available here and entries are now open (the Early Bird rate is available before February 1st, 2022).
