The really friendly East Antrim Boat Club hosted the Iodai Ulster Championship last weekend. The event which counts as an IODAI ranking event saw 60 sailors compete across 3 fleets.
In very light wind on saturday and 7-10 knots on sunday, sailors managed to complete a fantastic event.
After a long waiting for wind on saturday, Junior and Senior main fleets sailed 6 races, with one discard, and Regatta fleet sailed 7 races with 2 discards. The sailors enjoyed overall warm and pleasant weather conditions over the 2 days.
The NYC was represented in both the main fleet by William and Hannah Walsh, Lucas Browne, Jonhathan Dempsey, Félix Dion and Louise Hanley.
In the senior fleet, unfortunately Hannah and William Walsh felt unwell on sunday and couln’t sail. But really good results espacially for William on saturday with a 2nd place in race 2.
In the junior main fleet, Louise Hanley won first prize in the Silver Fleet (5th overall), FĂ©lix Dion 2nd in silver as well (6th overall) and Jonathan Dempsey 16th. Lucas Browne felt unwell on saturday and couldn’t sail all races.
Great news as well in the regatta fleet with a strong performance from Basile Dion, who won one race and finished 3rd. Jacob Browne finished 6th, AurĂšle Dion 8th (with a trophy as best under 8), and Louis Trickett 10th.
Thanks a million to EABC and Iodai for a warm welcome and a beautiful event.
