The Optimist Development programme is aimed at sailors who aim to learn, to sail in the club and eventually compete in events and other competitions in 2023. While there is a focus on development and performance, our plan is based on the NYC’s core values of family, friendship and sporting excellence.

Read carefully the requirements for the various groups before enrolling your child using the form below.
Kids should be happy to go sailing on their own and have access to their own boats or charter boats.
We will be offering 4 levels:
– start sailing
– basic skills
– improving skills
– start racing

We will need 1 or 2 beachmasters for every session as you know our wonderful volunteers make our sport happen. Thanks for all the support to date in previous courses. Shore support is essential to the smooth running of the programme. As soon as the group is gathered, we will ask 2 parents for shore duty every Sunday. Many thanks in advance.

21st May = no coaching as kids will be offered to attend our Leinster Optimist Championships in the club. Coaches will be able to tell you if your sailors is ready to attend.

Applications for courses will be accepted only from members in good standing, with all debts (including membership subscription) paid up to date at the time of application. Bookings made by members who have not paid subscriptions for 2023 will be cancelled.
