Volunteer Day – Sunday June 7th -
Your Generosity at Work
Weâre delighted to announce our Volunteerâs Day on Sunday, June 7th, and weâre calling on club members to lend a hand in helping spruce up the club for the season ahead.
Weâre looking for volunteers to help with painting, cleaning, tidying, and tending to the outside areas of the club.
Itâs planned as an all-day event, with members welcome to join us for either the morning session, the afternoon session, or both.
To keep everyone fuelled, sandwiches with tea and coffee will be provided at lunchtime, and weâll round off the day with a well-earned wet supper and a drink in the evening.
Whether you can spare a couple of hours or the whole day, your help would be greatly appreciated and will make a real difference to the club.

Greystones Cruise - The May Bank Holiday weekend marked the first National Yacht Club Cruising Group âSail in Companyâ of the season from DĂșn Laoghaire to Greystones. Thirteen boats and more than 60 crew took part in the 10-nautical-mile passage in a gentle north-easterly breeze of 8â12 knots. With a light following sea and many yachts flying asymmetric sails, the fleet enjoyed near-perfect early-season sailing conditions.
ECHO 90 Update - You will have seen the ECHO 90 ketch moored in front of the Club since the start of the season, and may be wondering about her purpose.
Well, as a training vessel with disabled access, she has been in use in the Sailability Programme bringing disabled children out for a sail on the Bay. With the able assistance of Damian Quinn, Brian Geraghty and Pau Barrington, she participates in the Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Sailability outings, and on May 17th was a key element of the Sailability Day out of the RIYC.
On the training side, she is also used in the Adult training on Sundays bringing new sailors out on the water. As a ketch, with furling jib, reefable mainsail and mizzen, she has a very flexible sailplan with relatively easily handled small sails. Thus, Thomas uses her to bring the Nippers out for a spin on Fridays. She is also equipped with symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers making her suitable for more advanced spinnaker handling training.
If you are interested in giving her a try, please contact Thomas (headcoach@nyc.ie) and he can arrange a familiarisation session with one of the folks more experienced with handling her.

The Harbour Hoppers and Mini Mariners courses are a one week half day course (morning or afternoon; no supervision over lunch) following the Taste of Sailing syllabus for 6-8 year olds getting out on the water in different types of boats and gaining confidence. No experience required.
The fee for this course is âŹ130.00 per child. Please also note our cancellation policy.

This much-loved series brings together the next generation of sailors for a perfect mix of competition, camaraderie, and summer energy.
From Optimists to ILCA6s, Toppers to RS Fevas, the racing is open, inclusive, and designed to challenge sailors of all levels under 19. Whether you're chasing podium finishes or building confidence on the start line, this series is about progression as much as performance.
Each Friday evening features two short, exciting races sailed on a triangle course inside the harbourâideal for sharpening skills in a safe, dynamic environment. And itâs not just about results: coaching, encouragement, and fun are at the heart of every race.
