Quiz Update
Quiz update
The seasonal NYC quiz series should experience three phases: a multi-coloured autumnal introduction as we turn over a new leaf; a crisp-cold wintry response to awkward questions; and a spring to action when the final leaderboard takes shape. Whence the spring? We have a vernal desire for change (no, you read that wrong, it says vernal!). Wizard certainly keep a spring in their step, as they showed by winning the quiz on Wednesday 18th February to cement their overall lead. Enchantress and the Celtic Boys continued their good form to tie for second place. Salopettes and T.B.M. tied for 4th, keeping T.B.M.âs overall hopes alive. Those hopes will need the sun to shine in order to blossom.
Overall, Wizard hold a strong lead over T.B.M. (leaderboard can be found on the notice board in the Club) but with discards now being sown in the thawing ground, the lead is not insurmountable. Celtic Boys and Enchantress are saplings in comparison, but at least above ground. The Corner Boys have started their expected slide and might not bear fruit this season. The Salopettes have gained some places by may need to be replanted. Of course, all of these primaveral references will be lost on the Chancellors featuring Eoin in Australia who remain on an antipodean cycle.
So, a call to action! The quiz is going to spring forth, and demand that Proserpina, Flora, Chloris and Eostre show up on the 4th March â like a pre-historic pagan rite to call forth the children of Persephone. When will these deities arrive? 8pm, sharp! All be prepared â an ability to identify flowers will be an advantage as the season heats up.

Quiz Update
February 4th 2026 was witness to a worldâs first when the National Yacht Club quiz welcomed the live participation of a quizzer in Australia. A member of the Chancellors joined via Zoom from down under to take part during his early morning. This antipodean perspective certainly helped Chancellors to a fine 2nd place finish in tie with contenders T.B.M., both just a point behind overall leaders and resident brains trust Wizard. The organisers of the quiz are satisfied that the integrity of the live quiz was not undermined by such a development. In two weeksâ time we expect to welcome a new team, the MAGAzines, located entirely in Greenland, and who have indicated that the NYC quiz is vital to their national security. Celtic Boys continued their run of good form with a 4th placed finish, followed closely by Stars of the Sea, the Corner Boys, Harmerang, and Quiztopher Columbus, with improved showings from F-15 and The Flyers.
Wizard have compounded their dominance of the overall leaderboard, but with discards about to kick in their lead over T.B.M. is precarious. Other teams are playing for local bragging rights which, this week, go to Quiztopher Columbus for their mini-victory over All At Sea.
Our next quiz takes place, sportingly, on the 18th February @ 8.00pm sharp! All are welcome.
