John gave us an overview of weather forecasting in November and is coming back to expand on this, while also covering online forecasting.
To this end, John will be discussing the attached weather chart which is next Wednesdayâs forecast.
We do hope you can join us in the JB room for what promises to be an enlightening discussion.

TY Course on disability awareness 26th March 2025 – 2pm to 5pm
We are running a Disability awareness course on Wednesday 26th March from 2pm to 5pm in the JB room at NYC .
The purpose of this short course is to teach the specific skills required to assist children (and adults) with physical and/or sensory disabilities to learn to sail. There will be a theory section first which will take place in the JB room and this will be followed by a short practical session on the Pontoon at NYC providing some practical tips on assisting Sailability sailors in and out of the boats.
Johanne Murphy from the ISA is the course instructor and Dun Laoghaire Sailability will make a short presentation outlining the volunteering opportunities available during the summer. A certificate of competency will also be provided at the conclusion of the course.

â Join Us for an Exciting Trip to Peel Marina! â
â Join Us for an Exciting Trip to Peel Marina! â
Our Cruising Group invite captains expression of interest in a two night visit to Peel, Isle of Man.
Looking for an unforgettable boating adventure? Come along for a two-night visit to Peel Marina, Isle of Man, filled with stunning coastal views, great company, and a relaxing atmosphere!
We plan to muster outside the lock gates at 12 noon on Saturday the 24th of May.
We will then stay two nights and leave on Monday morning the 26th of May, as soon as the lock gates open, which will be around 12 midday.
It is the responsibility of every skipper to decide what time they should leave Dun Laoghaire and the specific route that they will take.
However, as a number of categories of boats are similar, many may wish to sail in lose company.
At this time, we are only looking for an expression of interest from captains/boat owners, so we can start the initial planning.
It is proposed to have a meeting of those considering or intending to take part, well before the trip to discuss options.
đ Dates:
- Muster: Saturday, 24th May at 12 noon (outside Peel lock gates)
- Stay: Two nights in Peel Marina
- Departure: Monday, 26th May at 12 midday (when lock gates open)

Time to look at your PFDs!
The Department of Transport has amended Marine Notice No. 32 of 2019 âPersonal Flotation Devices for Pleasure Craft and Personal Watercraftâ, in time for the new sailing season.
Now is the time to look at the requirements and regulations for the safe use of PFDs on our boats. It advises on buying a new PFD and on inspecting and servicing your existing one.
The marine notice is available on the Department of Transportâs website here
Attention All Boat Owners – Check Your Insurance!
It has come to our attention that some boat insurance policies do not provide cover for events and regattas outside your home club.
Now is the time to check your policy, and talk to your broker or insurance company.!
Irish Sailing has a useful note on the matter of insurance and racing at an event or regatta away from your home club. See more details here https://www.sailing.ie/News/id/12757
Many thanks
