Club’s Women on the Water Team Win NYC Regatta Prize
The National Yacht Club Women on the Water team continues to grow in numbers with up to 30 lady sailors now sailing weeklyin DBSC Racing on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This enthusiastic group entered two 1720 Sportsboats in last weekend's club regatta with an all ladies crew. It was a glorious day of sunshine with two windward/leeward races providing lots of challenging sailing.
The NYC awarded a Women's Boat prize in recognition of the many new and returning ladies to sailing in the club. This was jointly won by one of our 1720s helmed by Fiona Staunton and an SB20 sailed by Sarah Byrne from Greystones.

Best of Luck to the IODAI European Team with NYC sailors Leah Rickard, Nathan van Steenberge, Rocco Wright and Sam Ledoux.
Team Ireland (Johnny, Leah, Eimer, Rocco, Sam, Emily and Nathan) and coach Thomas Chaix have arrived in The Hague for the 2018 Optimist European Championshipâs.
The Europeans start on Monday June 25th and runs until June 30th. We wish them the very best of luck at the event. Go Team Ireland .
Nippers 2018 – Update
We have completed another year of nippers. 30 keen sailors aged 6-8 yrs old participated in this 6 week Cara Na Mara programme. We had up to 10 helpers per week, club members aged 10-12 who sat in Club Optimists with the sailors and we would like to thank them for their support.
On the last night, we organised a trip to the lifeboat station where our young sailors learnt all about the fabulous work the volunteers do. The parents and siblings met in the dining room for a meal to celebrate the end of the course.
Here are some photos from the last night, we look forward to seeing these junior sailors on the minor and full day summer courses in the coming months.

Irish Optimist Nationals and Open Championship 2018
Entries for the 2018 Irish Nationals taking place in Kinsale Yacht Club, in the South of Ireland are now open. This event will take place on August 16/17/18/19 and is open to Regatta Fleet/ Snr Fleet/ Jnr Fleet.
- Entry for the Nationals is âŹ160:06 and the early entry fee closes at 10pm (sharp) on August 1st. From August 1st the fee goes up to âŹ260:06
- Final closing date is August 6th, at 10pm sharp
Calling all Green Volunteers Sunday 24th June
As the Club prepares for the 2018 Davy Regatta this Saturday it is also has important plans to help improve the waters we sail in every week.
This year we are asking as many members and their kids to come down this Sunday 24th June and join us for a bit of fun on the water. The plan is, weather permitting, to get as many club kayaks, SUP and ribs on the water to collect the floating debris that clogs up our harbour. The harbour company are providing a trash boat for us to fill.
