Support Women on the Water in NYC!!

Dear Club members,

We wanted to share with you that we now have WOW (women on the water) stickers available for you to purchase from the office, €3 for 1 sticker or 4 stickers for €10.  These can be put on boats, cars, trailers etc.

Proceeds will go towards supporting WOW sailing equipment.

Senior Instructor Wanted for Summer 2022 – DEADLINE TO APPLY MONDAY 31ST JANUARY MIDNIGHT

The National Yacht Club is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Instructor for Summer 2022.

He / She will lead the team of committed sailing instructors and coaches for our Summer courses or clinics in 2022. 
Our Instructors are of the highest quality in terms of professionalism, attitude, technical ability and passion for sailing. Instructors will be responsible for the development of the clubs youngest members, a role that is taken extremely seriously by the club.

29er Europeans, Rive del Garda October 2021

Irish sailors shined at the 29er Zhik European Championships held at Riva del Garda, Italy at the end of October.

The event held at Fraglia Vela was limited to 200 boats, with representation from countries as far as Brazil and Canada. Ireland had 5 boats participating.

NYC sailors shined! In particular, Tim Norwood (RIYC) and Nathan van Steenberge (NYC) leading the leaderboard at one moment finished 11th overall and Clementine van Steenberge (NYC) and Chiara Carra (RSGYC) coming in 4th European girl (tied on points with 3rd girls) and 21st overall.

Strong results from Lauren O’Callaghan (NYC) and Fiona Ferguson (NYC) who finished 14th European girl and 69th overall.

The Irish Sailing Youth National Championships were hosted at the Royal Cork Yacht Club from October 28th - 30th in ideal sailing conditions, with the exception of the final day when sailing was cancelled with weather gusting up to 40 knots.  

National Yacht Club sailors participating in the Topper, ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and 29er fleets delivered strong performances in all classes.  

Sam Ledoux whose first event it was in the ILCA 4 class (formerly Laser 4.7) won first place, having performed consistently over his races with three 3rd place finishes, a 2nd and a 1st place finish.

Ella Dempsey performed consistently and was the 3rd girl in the fleet, finishing in 10th place overall.  Ava Ennis, who has just moved from the Optimist fleet, held her own over the 2 days of ILCA 4 racing, as did Dylan de Vreeze. 

Christian Ennis and Conor Galligan who participated in the ILCA 6 fleet (formerly Laser Radial ) had 3 days of racing, in what is a very competitive fleet.  Eva Spain and Annabel Greenwood competed in the Topper fleet with 38 competitors from across the Island.

Silver Medal Win for Finn Lynch at Laser World Championships puts National Yacht Club Sailor into the Sailing History Books!

Finn Lynch won a Silver medal at the Laser World Championships in Barcelona and with it, the National Yacht Club solo ace sailed into the history books with the best ever result by an Irish sailor at a Laser World Championships.
