Mitsubishi Motors Ireland last night presented the magnificent wheel trophy for the Irish Sailing Club of the Year 2018, to the National Yacht Club at an award ceremony in the Club, last night (8 May 2018)
The Trophy was made 40 years ago for the initial awarding of the “Irish Sailing Club of the Year” and over that last 21 years, Mitsubishi Motors Ireland have generously sponsored the coveted award.
Chairman of the selection jury, Winkie Nixon commented: “This award is a recognition of the great work of the National Yacht Club members in 2017 and for the years before that. The Club is doing marvellous work in promoting sailing in Ireland and building fine spirit of volunteering and community endeavour which the jury wanted to recognize”
Sailing Ireland President Jack Roy noted: “Sailing Ireland is delighted that Mitsubishi have so generously sponsored this award for the last 21 years. It is a recognition of the great work the clubs do in the interest of sailing – and especially the input of club families – many of whom are now 3 and 4 generations in the sport”
National Yacht Club Commodore Ronan Beirne said: “We are extremely honoured to accept this award from Mitsubishi Motors Ireland and Frank Keane Holdings. There are always challenges ahead but this award will be treasured by each and every member of the club, over the next 12 months. In will motivate us to do our best to improve every facet of what we do – for the betterment of our community and sport.”
Mitsubishi Motors MD, Gerard Rice commented: “Mitsubishi Motors Ireland is delighted to award this trophy to the National Yacht Club. We have a long relationship with sailing in Dun Laoghaire, through our local dealership Grace & Harvey, the principle of which Joe Harvey is with us this evening”
