Covid-19 Protocols

Please be mindful to always have your Covid-19 vaccination certificate available for presentation when availing of the facilities within the Clubhouse. We continue to adhere to all government guidelines with the safety of members, their guests and staff to the forefront of our minds.

General Rules

  • All Visitors and members attending the Club for any reason must be fully vaccinated, wear masks indoors and adhere to social distancing rules.
  • Please make sure your vaccination certificate and photo ID, and those of your guests, are available for inspection on arrival to the club.
  • Members may order drinks at the bar but must be seated while consuming food and beverages.
  • During events, masks can be removed whilst at the table but must be worn at all other times
  • If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive, it is imperative that you refrain from attending the club
  • Closing time has changed once again and patrons must vacate the building by 12 midnight.

Sailing News

Silver Medal Win for Finn Lynch at Laser World Championships puts National Yacht Club Sailor into the Sailing History Books!

 

Finn Lynch won a Silver medal at the Laser World Championships in Barcelona and with it, the National Yacht Club solo ace sailed into the history books with the best ever result by an Irish sailor at a Laser World Championships.

Junior Sailing News

29er Europeans, Rive del Garda October 2021

 

Irish sailors shined at the 29er Zhik European Championships held at Riva del Garda, Italy at the end of October.

The event held at Fraglia Vela was limited to 200 boats, with representation from countries as far as Brazil and Canada. Ireland had 5 boats participating.

NYC sailors shined! In particular, Tim Norwood (RIYC) and Nathan van Steenberge (NYC) leading the leaderboard at one moment finished 11th overall and Clementine van Steenberge (NYC) and Chiara Carra (RSGYC) coming in 4th European girl (tied on points with 3rd girls) and 21st overall.

Strong results from Lauren O’Callaghan (NYC) and Fiona Ferguson (NYC) who finished 14th European girl and 69th overall. 

 


NYC’s Sam Ledoux takes first place in the ILCA 4 fleet at the ISA Youth Nationals

 

The Irish Sailing Youth National Championships were hosted at the Royal Cork Yacht Club from October 28th – 30th in ideal sailing conditions, with the exception of the final day when sailing was cancelled with weather gusting up to 40 knots.  

National Yacht Club sailors participating in the Topper, ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and 29er fleets delivered strong performances in all classes.  

Sam Ledoux whose first event it was in the ILCA 4 class (formerly Laser 4.7) won first place, having performed consistently over his races with three 3rd place finishes, a 2nd and a 1st place finish.

Ella Dempsey performed consistently and was the 3rd girl in the fleet, finishing in 10th place overall.  Ava Ennis, who has just moved from the Optimist fleet, held her own over the 2 days of ILCA 4 racing, as did Dylan de Vreeze. 

Christian Ennis and Conor Galligan who participated in the ILCA 6 fleet (formerly Laser Radial ) had 3 days of racing, in what is a very competitive fleet.  Eva Spain and Annabel Greenwood competed in the Topper fleet with 38 competitors from across the Island.

Dear Members,

Please see our updated Social Calendar below for the coming weeks. Club night refers to weekend nights where the Dining room is open for À la Carte dining and tables are still available to book.
As we head into the festive season, Cormac introduces a more festive menu to include traditional Turkey and Ham, Venison and Pheasant dishes.

The dining room is presented in a very safe and comfortable layout to comply with current guidelines and has proved very popular with members. We look forward to welcoming you to the Club over the festive period

NYC online Pilates for All with Sally Bell – 4 weeks – starting Monday 27th November

 

No experience or fitness level necessary! No shame in a classroom group session, do it from the comfort of your bedroom or living room! Just sign-up below and join the movement!!

Whiskey Tasting Evening

 

Friday November 26th

Time 8pm

In conjunction with The Powerscourt Distillery, a whiskey tasting evening will take place in the JB Room on Friday November 26th at 8pm sharp.

There will be 6 of the distillery’s whiskeys presented for tasting along with suggested food pairings
Whiskeys – 6 in total – 8yo, 10yo, 14yo, 18yo, 18yo 5E, 20yo 5E (newest release)

Powerscourt Distillery is located in picturesque Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, on the the grounds of beautiful Powerscourt Estate. The formerly Old Mill House has been refurbished and since 2019 it has been the location of Distillery and Visitors Centre.

We’re delighted our members will get to join in a tasting with a chance to sample some of the Whiskey range, including the 10 YO, 14 YO and 18 YR Limited Release.

Food pairings will be provided for the first 4 Whiskeys (8yo, 10yo, 14yo, 18yo)

Bookings for this event are limited and can be booked by emailing catering@nyc.ie and the cost is €30 per person

Clubhouse News

Santa Visit’s 2021

 

Members,

This year’s Santa Sunday is on 5th December 2021.  Santa will be in the Clubhouse from 11am to 2pm for children to visit.  In order to comply with HSE and Government guidelines, we are implementing a time slot programme.  Santa visit booking forms are on the porter’s desk in the hallway (opposite the Manager’s office), or you can click here for a form. 

PLEASE NOTE: Santa Sunday lunch is booked out.

Dining Vouchers

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DINING VOUCHERS.

The Committee have agreed to extend 2020 and 2021 bar and catering vouchers, paid in association with your membership subscription, until December 2022.  Please note – this does not affect your Top-up accounts as there is no expiry on these vouchers.

As we near the festive season, I would like to remind members of the range of private dining options within the Clubhouse that can be availed of for those long awaited friends and family reunions, postponed milestone occasions or the much looked forward to “catch-up”.
