Accommodation Search – World Match Racing

Dear Members,

As some of you may know, we are once again hosting a stage of the World Match Racing Tour this September, and preparations are well underway. We are reaching out to ask for your help with one important part of the event: accommodation for the visiting teams.

The regatta runs from the 23rd to the 27th of September. Teams will likely arrive on the 23rd and most will leave either on the evening of the 27th or the 28th, depending on flights.

Many of the teams have been in touch looking for accommodation recommendations, and several are struggling with the high cost of accommodation in Dublin.

We would be enormously grateful if any members could offer a place to stay for visiting sailors. This doesn’t need to be anything glamorous—anything from a spare room, a space for a blow-up mattress, or even a berth on a boat in the marina would make a huge difference.

The feedback from last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive. The visiting sailors were extremely appreciative of the accommodation provided and greatly enjoyed the opportunity to experience Irish hospitality. Hosts found the teams to be considerate, grateful and easy to accommodate.

John Lavery, who hosted one of the visiting teams last year, said:

“It was easy hosting Tom Picot (AUS) and his team as they were very good guests and appreciative of the accommodation and were no trouble.”

The aim is to make this a positive and welcoming experience for the teams, which in turn will help ensure that the National Yacht Club remains a stop on the tour in the future.

If you are able to help, please let us know at your earliest convenience. Your support will go a long way towards making this event a success and will be very much appreciated by both the club and the visiting teams.

Please contact Oisin Cullen at omc2607@gmail.com if you can offer any assistance.

Many Thanks,

Team NYC
