Specialist Conservation Repair & Refurbishment

Specialist Conservation Repair & Refurbishment

The National Yacht Club is very proud of our heritage building but it requires specialist conservation repair and refurbishment from time to time.

As it is the quietest time of the year the NYC House Committee are taking this opportunity to tackle one of the larger projects on our to-do list; all of the timber sash windows to the Bar and some to the Dining Room and Kitchen are being repaired and refurbished at present by Maclyn Conservation Joinery who are conservation specialists in the repair and refurbishment of traditional timber sash windows.

This involves removing the timber sash windows for repair and reglazing off site. Plywood sheets will replace the window openings during this time. The timber window frames will also be stripped down in situ and repaired. This will cause some disruption, dust and draughts. When the newly repaired sashes return they will need a few weeks for the glazing putty to dry out before final painting so will not look very pretty until then.

The timeline is dependent on weather and glass supply and may take up to 6 weeks.

We appreciate your patience while we undertake this refurbishment.
