CANCELLATION

Tom has been on standby in Concarneau for  the last  week  waiting to bring the Figaro 3 to Dublin.

The weather has been poor  and  is set to deteriorated further with the expected arrival of Hurricane Lorenzo later this week.

Having looked at all the options , Tom has reluctantly  Decided to cancel the  trip. He is really disappointed but safely is always the first consideration.

Tom Dolan and his Figaro 3 are available (sailing out of NYC) from Tuesday 1st of October to Friday 11th October for corporate entertainment.

All funds raised through this initiative will go towards Sailing into Wellness, an award winning programme which uses the experiences of sailing to help create stable lives for people suffering from poor mental health, addiction and social exclusion.

From October 1st  you could sail with Figaro sailor Tom Dolan in the National Yacht Club to raise funds for Sailing into Wellness which operates community sailing programmes in Dublin, Cork and Kinsale to help people in their recovery from mental health and addiction issues.

The Figaro can host up to 6 guests for a 3 hour sail and ‘Sailing into Wellness’ is seeking donations of a minimum of €600  for each 3 hour booking.

‘Smurfit Kappa’, the state foiling Beneteau Figaro 3 offshore one design yacht on which Tom has just completed the 2100 miles, month long, four stage ‘URGO La Solitaire du Figaro’ race, will be sailed to Dun Laoghaire from the yacht’s base in Brittany.

‘I have always wanted to be able to take time to share the experience with others and to be able to give a little insight into what it is like sailing offshore like I do. And there are so many people who have helped me along the way, literally hundreds of people over the years, that I would like to be able to help others who are less fortunate. I want to be able to give a little something back to others who I know will benefit. If I can even help get someone’s life on course it would mean so much to me.”  said 32 year old Tom who grew up in a small farming community in Kells, County Meath before he left Ireland ten years ago to pursue his offshore sailing dreams.

Sailing Into Wellness is a not for profit social enterprise, their corporate sailing events provide vital revenue to fund their community projects. Founders Colin Healy & James Lyons are passionate about sharing their love of the sea to provide long lasting social impact.

100% of their profits are used to fund community sailing projects; by sailing with them and Tom Dolan on this amazing boat, you are directly funding vulnerable groups to experience a completely new environment on the open sea.
They work with those affected by substance abuse and poor mental health, to help build  their recovery.

Sailing is proven to be a powerful tool in their development. Your contribution will help supporting their participants to overcome both physical and  mental challenges in an environment that is both exhilarating and therapeutic.

“One of the things about Tom is that he wants to see sailing as totally inclusive. He is totally down to earth and did not come up through the traditional sailing club systems and feels strongly that it is fun, challenging activity which should be accessible to as many people as possible. And he clearly sees it as a catalyst which can change lives for the better. We are really looking forwards to working with him.” Enthuses James Lyons of Sailing into Wellness.
