Transition Year is an amazing year for students as it provides a wide range of opportunities to get involved in new things.  The well established Dun Laoghaire TY Sailing Programme introduces: (a) fun water-based activities and trips, and (b) Irish Sailing courses for those who want to become a Sailing Instructor.

Overall, the most important outcome for our students is their personal development and a new network of friends across the clubs.  The programme is open to children of current RSGYC, NYC and RIYC members.  It is run on a volunteer basis by two TY parents/guardians representing each Club, with the support of Club sailing offices.

The TY Year Heads in schools are usually very open to allowing ‘authorised absences’ to allow participation during the year.  Your club Commodore will provide a letter which can be shared with your school.

Registrations for the 2023-24 TY Programme are now closed

For people already registered in the programme, an information evening will be held in RIYC on Wednesday 30th August 2023 at 7pm, with the introductory trip to Sherkin Island happening in late September, (involves 6 days of fun and keelboat sailing – details to follow).

Details of our 2023/2024 TY Programme are currently being finalized.
