Join an evening in Dun Laoghaire for dinner and conversation with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo, non-stop around the world and the winner of the first ever Golden Globe Race.
Dubbed the âDavid Attenborough of sailingâ when he received the Pindar Lifetime Achievement Award in November 2025, Sir Robin Knox-Johnstonâs story is one of pioneering adventure, courage and one that has helped chart a course for those brave men and women that have followed in his wake.

Time to honour the successes of our NYC sailors in 2025! Sailing Awards Nominations Sought….
As 2025 closes out it is time to look back and reflect on the many and varied achievements of our sailors and send in your nominations for the very best.
NYC sailors have had another successful year on the water across numerous classes and many oceans! Mark OâConnor becoming the youngest Irishman to race solo across the Atlantic in the Mini Transat, Brian Uniacke and Damian Payne competing in the Clipper Round The World Race, Ethan Spain and Ben OâShaughnessy winning gold at the 49er Junior European Championship, with Lauren OâCallaghan and Charlotte Eadie, finishing 15th in the 49erFX class at the same event and not forgetting Finn Lynch achieving a World No. 2 ranking!
Our extremely talented event management teams delivered several remarkable major events in 2025, Adam Winkelmann and his team running the D2D, the ILCA U21 Worlds team delivering a flawless World Championship to the highest of international standards, Peter Ryan being awarded Penmaen Plate for the "Spirit of ISORA". The full team, led by Oisin Cullen and Ruairi Finnegan and including all the wonderful members who provided accommodation, who hosted the World Match Racing Tour demonstrating strong organizational capabilities.
It is going to be a very busy night on Saturday 28th February 2026 when we honour our stars of sailing in 2025.
The Sailing Committee is now looking for your nominations for the NYC 2025 Sailing Awards. Nominations should made using the form below by close of business on Thursday 22nd January 2025.

Quiz Update
Amidst the seismic geopolitical upheavals the world is experiencing, none is more attentively watched than the NYC Quiz leaderboard. Worldwide media exploded to the news that T.B.M. finally prevailed over the establishment bastions that are Wizard. A tense engagement between many teams throughout Wednesday night saw no less than four teams tied for the lead ahead of the last round. The Motor Buoys and The Dirty Ruckers cracked, but held on to tie for third place. Wizard held firm, but a stronger effort from perennial runners-up T.B.M. to get a perfect final round saw them gain the spoils. Old glories Enchantress and Corner Boys finished in behind.
The result allows Wizard to look down on all from the top of the overall leaderboard, followed by T.B.M. and the Corner Boys. Chancellors and Quiztopher Columbus sit in a healthy fifth. With poor results still able to be discounted all teams have a chance of occupying these places in the weeks ahead. Echoing the language of TOTP, Motor Buoys climb six places to number 11.
The Christmas Dinner Quiz will take place in two weeksâ time, on the 17th December. Dinner will be at 7.00 for 7.30, with the quiz starting at 8.30. All are welcome.

Junior Santa Regatta – Sunday 14th December
NOTICE OF RACE & Entry Form
- The Santa Regatta will be a single fun race around Dun Laoghaire harbour.
- The regatta will be timed and scored under PY. Classes admitted are Optimist, Topper, ILCA4, ILCA6, Feva, Mirror, Aero 5, Aero 6, 29ers. Topper Charter boats for children who already charter for the Saturday training can be secured via the main club link within availability (https://pci.jotform.com/form/201562319515047)
- This is a fun regatta and should be raced in the spirit of enjoyment for all, weither a beginner or a seasoned racer. The RRS will be applied with provision made on learning over âpunishingâ.
- The regatta is open to all juniors (U19)and instructors (U25). Entry can completed online below - Entry fee is 10EUR
- There will be two starts
- Slow PY will start in front of the club at 10.00 (warning signal at 9.55): Optimist, Topper, Mirror
- Fast PY will start in front of the club at 10.10 (warning signal at 10.05): ILCA 4, ILCA6, Feva, 29er, Aero 5, Aero 6.
- The course will be described at briefing at 9.20 just before launching
- The race will be umpired (no protest back ashore)
- Medals for the top 3 boats, prizes for the best dressed sailor, the best dressed boat (âŠ)
