Toolbox Talk with Thomas Chaix

Toolbox Talk with Thomas Chaix

Next Wednesday 5th March is our penultimate Toolbox Talk of the series.

Our high performance coach, Thomas Chaix, will host the talk on sail selection and trim in the context of cruising with an emphasis on getting the most out of our vessel when sailing shorthanded.

Thomas has sailed all his life and is Head Coach at the NYC. He is an active high performance international sailor and dinghy coach and has competed in small yachts at various events over the years including mini 650, Beneteau 36.7, 1720, Figaro 2, J80, Feeling 8.50 to name but a few.  He also has completed a number of passage in the Caribbean BVI, around the Irish coast, Channel and Celtic seas over the years on various yachts (Racing and cruising) including short or single handed.  In his spare time, Thomas enjoys restoring old dinghies and keelboats to race them.

We do hope you can join us in the JB Room at 7:30 Wednesday 5th March.

Cruising Group – Toolbox Talk – Lets Talk Engines With Ian!

Cruising Group – Toolbox Talk – Lets Talk Engines With Ian!

Our Cruising Group is delighted to invite you to our next Toolbox Talk on Wednesday, 19th February, at 7:30 PM in the J.B. Room.

This session will feature Ian Meldon, who has generously offered to host a Q&A on marine engines—specifically, how to identify wear and potential issues before they lead to failure at sea.

Given the broad scope of this topic, we’d like to gather questions in advance to ensure a structured and insightful discussion.

If you have any questions you’d like to see addressed, please email us at admin@nyc.ie, and we’ll include them.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!

David
