Following demand and to launch the summer racing season, the first coaching series is proposed. Coaches will focus on boat handling skills to decrease handling errors leading to capsizes and improve fluidity in delivering all key manoeuvres. At the completion of the programme, coaches will produce a progress report to all sailors.

Sessions will start rigged and ready for briefing at 13.00 and is expected to be finished by 17.00.
Dates: 21-04, 12-05, 18-05 (Saturday), 26-05

Cost of the programme: €120/sailor

The club 29er is available for this programme and must be requested to the head coach prior to booking.

"Starting well and first decision"

Sessions will start rigged and ready for briefing at 13.00 and is expected to be finished by 17.00. dates: 20-04, 27-04, 18-05, 25-05

Cost of the programme: 120EUR/sailor

Club Topper charter (8 boats) are available for this programme (within availability): 100EUR/sailor; Club ILCA4 charter (one boat) is available for this prgramme: 120EUR/sailor

The National Yacht Club is currently seeking to recruit a team of committed and enthusiastic Assistant Instructors for the 2024 summer sailing courses.

Transition Year (TY) sailors who wish to apply for the position of Assistant Instructors at NYC over summer 2024 should complete the form below before midnight on 5th May 2024

The role is relevant to any individual, 16 or over with the required certification who has completed Transition Year and is interested in encouraging children to learn how to sail under the direct supervision of NYC instructors at all times. Assistant instructors are required to hold their Motorboat licence; First Aid cert; Safeguarding cert; Garda vetting cert (Note that only applications from sailors who have completed TY will be considered).

Following demand, the National YC is setting a Feva camp in order to kick start the 2024 season. No need to have a partner as we will help sailors to team up. The club Fevas are also available to charter.

The focus will be to get rid of the winter cobwebs, ensure the boats are good to go for the season, build partnerships and review all the double handed sailing skills necessery to sail effectively on trapezoid courses (including spinnaker work). All levels of experience above  the Irish Sailing "Basic skills" level are welcomed

When: 3^rd to the 5^th of April ( please note that privately owned Fevas will need to clear the platform as soon as the camp concludes to facilitate the lift in)

The Optimist programme is offering a 4 days sailing camp at Easter from Monday 25th to Thursday 28th of April.
Our plan is based on the NYC’s core values of family, friendship and sporting excellence.

We will be offering 3 levels.
- start sailing: By the end of this course you will be sailing in light wind conditions with assistance from your instructor." The idea is to bring the sailor to a level where they are sailing independently in light airs.
- basic skills: Sailors are offered greater independence in lighter airs and will be exposed to windier conditions as the course progresses. They will also begin to learn the essential manoeuvers required for dinghy sailing. Sailors will be given access to as broad a range of scenarios as possible as well as venturing further, more independently.
- improving skills: By the end of this module, all sailors will be competent to launch, sail and recover their boat in moderate conditions. They will learn the essential seamanship manoeuvres and develop and understanding and appreciation for the weather, tides, and current.
