Topper Sprint Donaghadee 26th 27th May – Report
NYC was represented by Hugh O'Connor and Caoimhe Seymour at the Topper Sprint Challenge in Donaghadee Sailing Club over the weekend.
Our two sailors battled the 3m swells in light winds and sunshine.
The format for this challenge was 85 Races over the two days. On day one each person was split into flights where they raced 10 races each.
Optimist Ulsters 2018 â Report and Results
The NYC had great success in the Optimist Ulsters which took place in Malahide Yacht Club last weekend. Twenty four sailors from the NYC took part in this event across 3 fleets.
Sam Ledoux, Leah Rickard, Conor Gorman, Fiachra Mc Donnell, Rian Geraghty-Mc Donnell, Luke Turvey, Hugh Turvey, Nathan van Steenberge, Lauren OâCallaghan, Ella Dempsey and Rachel Flood, sailed in Senior Fleet.
Rocco Wright, Clementine Van Steenberge,Lucia Cullen, Edward Dempsey, Conor Staunton and Adelaide Jullo sailed in Junior Fleet.
Ava Ennis, Caoilinn Mc Donnell, James Hall, Lizzie Hall, Kate Flood, Grace Gavin and Ciara OâSullivan sailed in the Regatta Fleet.
Update on theTopper Southern Championship RCYC 12-13th May
This weekend saw superb racing in Cork with the National Yacht Club well represented by Hugh O'Connor, Natasha Hemeryck, Caoimhe Byrne and Caoimhe Seymour. Conditions were tough with strong tides and shifty winds. Hugh O'Connor finished the first day in the lead and managed to stave off stiff competition on day two winning the overall championship outright.
Caoimhe Seymour battled it out for 4th Place in the 4.2 Rig and Natasha Hemeryck and Caoimhe Byrne gained respectable places in the top half of the fleet. Congratulations to all our sailors.
Entries now open for the Ulsterâs
The first event of the IODAI 2018 calendar is the Ulsterâs. This year we are delighted to have the event hosted by Malahide Yacht Club.
The Ulsterâs are taking place over the weekend of May 19th & 20th.
Entries are now open for the Ulsterâs and we would encourage you to enter as soon as possible.
- Entry for the Ulsters is âŹ60:00 and the early entry fee closes at 10pm (sharp) on Friday 4th From May 4th the fee goes up to âŹ120:00
- Final closing date is Wed 9th May, at 10pm sharp
- Open to: Regatta Fleet/ Snr Fleet/ Jnr Fleet

Update on The Traveller in the RNIYC
Congratulations to Hugh O'Connor and Natasha Hemeryck who came first and second respectively at the Traveller in the RNIYC on Sunday 29th April. Conditions were very good with a consistent breeze and plenty of sunshine and a strong fleet of 48 sailors from all over the country.
Update on Optimist Trials 2018
The Optimist Dinghy Irish team trials took place in The RSGYC last weekend as part of the Volvo Irish Sailing Youth Pathway National Championships 2018 which were being hosted jointly by the National Yacht Club and the Royal St George Yacht Club Dun Laoghaire.
