Update on the Traveller Events in Blessington Sailing Club

May 23, 2019 | Junior events, Junior Sailing

The Dun Laoghaire Topper Group had another great day at the recent Traveller event held in Blessington Sailing Club on Sunday 12th May, with 12 sailors representing the Waterfront.  There was a beautiful sunny and calm start to the morning, but the wind picked up enough for a good day’s sailing on the water.  Among the Prizewinners were 4 sailors from the NYC:
Adam Irvin, 3rd in Youth Male

Caoimhe Byrne, 3rd in Youth Female

Caoimhe Seymour, 2nd in Junior Female

Ella Fitzgerald, 3rd in 4.2 rig

The next event for Toppers is the “Sprint” in Donaghadee, this weekend, 25th and 26th May.  This is a different format, with lots of short races with only a few boats in each – it was introduced last year and much enjoyed by the competitors then.  This doesn’t count for points in the national rankings but is good for practising race starts and trying different strategies.  Registration in advance is necessary, and there are only a few places left.

(And prizewinners are in order of photos below – Adam Irvin, Caoimhe Byrne in grey top, Caoimhe Seymour in black tshirt, Ella in black long sleeves).
