As the Club prepares for the 2018 Davy Regatta this Saturday it is also has important plans to help improve the waters we sail in every week.
This year we are asking as many members and their kids to come down this Sunday 24th June and join us for a bit of fun on the water. The plan is, weather permitting, to get as many club kayaks, SUP and ribs on the water to collect the floating debris that clogs up our harbour. The harbour company are providing a trash boat for us to fill.
Do you want to take part in your Club Regatta but don't have a boat?
If you are a sufficiently experienced dinghy sailor, why not booking one of the Club RS Venture or Wayfarer and enter it in the Regatta?
To encourage participation, the booking fee is waved and only the Regatta entry fees apply.
Registrations continue for the second Series of races in Dublin Bay on Tuesday nights and Thursday nights!!!
See what opportunities to join our very social racing squads are left and book your spot using the form here!!
The DMYC Regatta for 2018 Notice of Race has been posted, and the entry form is online. Updates will be posted on their dedicated Regatta page, and cross-posted to Facebook
Flossie, An 11 year old girl, from Dun Laoghaire has been asked to organise a march against plastic on behalf of Ireland that is happening on the same day around the world, so London, Washington Rio De Janeiro etc.
The march will be happening at 2.30pm on Saturday 9th June, leaving from The Royal Marine Hotel, then marching towards the West pier where one of her Seabins are going in.
Flossie has been cleaning the beaches weekly in this area since last July and has become quite famous for it. The Irish Times wrote about her last year as well as many other magazines and newspapers worldwide.
They are hoping to get around 1000 people to the march and to have lots of yachts (flotilla)sporting anti-plastic signs in the Harbour, that would be brilliant!
