Platform Clearance for the Lift-out 2024!

Platform Clearance for the Lift-out 2024!

Dear Summer Platform Parking users.

The Summer Platform Parking Season is coming to an end on Sunday 6th October (at the very latest for boats still taking part in sailing activities) and we need a total platform clearance of all the dinghies and other types currently on the deck and / or on racks to make room for the lift-out which is scheduled for Saturday 12th October.

If your boat is not in use in one of the Club organised training anymore please make sure to come and collect it as soon as possible as the skeleton boathouse staff needs to reconfigure the platform well in advance of the lift-out and to reposition, or partially dismantle the racks used by the Opis, Toppers, Lasers and RS Aeros.

ALL dinghies must be removed by Sunday 6th October 18:00 at the very latest.

Please note that we do not have room to store any boat even temporarily on the Carlisle Pier until the platform reopens for the Winter parking season and cannot facilitate any such request.

The Committee is currently reviewing the demand for platform space from the various user groups this winter (junior dinghy sailors / adult dinghy sailors / single handed / 2 handed boats / keelboat dry sailing) and will have to limit the various classes of boats to strict numbers.

The online winter platform parking application form will open on Monday 14th October from 1800 - For booking online, please visit: https://nyc.ie/winter-dinghy-platform-parking/

Clean Sweep for National Yacht Club’s MacCarthy and McNally at Flying Fifteen East Coasts

Clean Sweep for National Yacht Club’s MacCarthy and McNally at Flying Fifteen East Coasts

Shane MacCarthy and Hugh McNally recorded a perfect score of five race wins to take the penultimate regatta of the Irish Flying Fifteen season, the East Coast Championships, hosted by the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire this past weekend.

With a fleet that boasted entries from the four coastlines of Ireland, North, South, East and West they had it almost all their own way on Saturday but faced a few challenges on Sunday.

Or at least that is what I garnered at the prize-giving on Sunday...Read more here

Adult single handers coaching series pre-liftout

Adult single handers coaching series pre-liftout

With the last few weeks of reasonable weather upon us and before the annual lift-out, the NYC is running an end of season coaching/support series for our single-handed adult sailors before we move into the winter.

As per previous series, the coaching is open to RS aeros and ILCAs (all rigs) and the sessions are designed to suit a wide range of abilities with a focus on boat handling and basic race techniques. We however ask sailors to consider their own ability and skills before launching in windier conditions: learning by observing on the coach boat is an option in such cases (withing RIB capacities) or alternatively we may forward the fee paid to part-finance an individual session.

Dates: Sept 22: Coach Sam Ledoux, Sept 29: Coach Nicole Hemerick, Oct 6: Coach TBC

Training runs from 9.30 till 12.30 each day. Cost for all 3 sessions: €75 / Cost for 2 sessions only: €60
