2022/23
Elgan / OâDonovan / McWilliamâs
The 2022/23 season is underway and both the Elgan and OâDonovan draws have been made with
many first round matches both played and scheduled.
The final of the McWilliams is to be played on the night of the Preston Auction, January 27th 2023.
The Preston final is expected to be played in April as normal.
Doubles
The Johnston Memorial doubles is expected to commence in December 2022
Turkey Pool
Our annual turkey pool is making a comeback in 2022 and is off to a great start!
We will have two further Monday evenings (12th, 19th December) where there will be wine for
runners up and Turkey vouchers for the winners. Spaces are limited to 15 per round so arrive early
to avoid disappointment. All welcome and the format will be explained to anyone unfamiliar on the
day.
2021/22
2021/21 was hopefully our last season of COVID disruption and we managed to get all snooker
competitions played. Despite some initial restrictions in the early part of the season, we managed
to get the Preston Auction scheduled in April and the final played in early November. While the
schedule worked well, everyone is looking forward to normal scheduling for the 22/23 season.
Congratulations to all our winners and runners up on a great season and thanks to everyone for
participating.
2021/2022 – Winners
Johnston Memorial Doubles – Paul Rothschild & John Loughrey
Elgan – Alex Lyons
OâDonovan – Oisin Murphy
McWilliams – Oisin Murphy
Preston Ball – Gary Haughton
Booking Matches / Table Time
All competition matches can be booked online using the portal linked below. The system is
straightforward and allows for slots to be booked at most times/days. There are certain times
blocked out for âMembers Timeâ, where anyone can arrive and play with others present.
Competition matches should not be played during, or overflow into, members time save for
exceptional circumstances by prior permission of the committee.
If you have any issues using the portal please contact the committee.
Inter-club
Sean Costello is managing our Inter-club campaign and we have started this year with both a loss
and a win. Our next match is in the new year against Royal St George on Feb7th. And we
encourage all those who wish to be considered for the team to make themselves known to Sean.
General Information
The NYC Snooker community welcomes all new members at any time of the year. Anyone
interested in getting involved is encouraged to come down during Members time (Mondays and
Fridays, 5-7pm) or contact the committee. House cues are available.
We arrange competitions throughout the year, based on a handicap system, as well as hosting
some other more casual events throughout the year.
Johnston Memorial Doubles – The doubles competition generally runs from December to April. It
is a great competition from a social and participation perspective. Any players not already involved
can pair up with friends or a partner can be arranged by the committee as required.
Winter season Singles competitions:
Elgan – This is the competition section for higher handicapped players.
OâDonovan – This is the competition section for lower handicapped players

OâDonovan sections . The final is typically played in late January on the evening of the Preston Ball

competition starts with an Auction night in January and the final is generally played in April
Turkey Pool – A fun evening held on the 3 Mondays in December before Christmas where prizes
