A successful return to racing for 29er National Championships 2021
After almost one year off the race course, NYCâs 29er sailors travelled to Crosshaven with great determination to take part in the 2021 AIB 29er national Championships 3-4 July.
The two-day event was a success: sailing conditions were better than forecast with little rain and most of the ten-race series was held in 12-15 knots on the Curlane Bank, Cork Harbour. Winds were shifty though, and with six races back-to-back covering over 60km of distance on Saturday and four races on Sunday, the sailorsâ fitness and stamina were truly tested. The fifteen-boat 29er fleet is growing steadily and NYCâs representatives did their club proud.
Leinster Optimist Championships 2021 – NYC Report
The Provident CRM Optimist Leinsters were held this year at Howth Yacht Club in a fresh breeze with over 60 + competitors.
Representing the club were several sailors and best placed was Ava Ennis (pictured) in senior fleet.
Ava finished strong on both days achieving a 3rd place finish on Saturday and improving again on Sunday, taking a 2nd place to finally finish at the top of the leader board in 5th place overall and 2nd placed girl.
Six races were run during the event over the two-day period and winds stayed fresh throughout.
All NYC Sailors finished with strong placings, Kate Flood, Grace Gavin and Marie Butler. A special mention must go to James Gorman who at only eleven years of age finished in 32nd place overall and within the top 10 Juniors, fantastic result James, very well done.

Juniors J80 training clinic – Monday 5th to Friday 9th July
J80 training clinic. Sessions are aimed at sailors who want to learn a new skill or sail in the company of their friends. This clinic is aimed at sailors 13 years and upwards. Experienced Senior and Advanced Instructor onboard at all times so no prior experience in keelboats is necessary!

2pm-5pm - 5 places, 150euro.
NYC Junior Theo Madigan – 2021 Optimist European Championships
Theo Madigan, is one of three sailors representing Ireland at the 2021 Optimist European Championships. This event was being held in Cadiz, Spain from 20th - 27th June. Theo has been sailing Optimist dinghys for the last five years. The European Championship had over 270 young sailors (age 12 - 15 years) from all over the world participating in this event.
Theo is a member of the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire and is delighted to be representing his club and his country.
Dublin Bay 21s back to the National Yacht Club and Dublin Bay
We are delighted to announce that the first 3 magnificently restored Dublin Bay 21s will be welcome back to the Club and to Dublin Bay on Friday 30th July!

Ruffian and Beneteau 31.7 National Championships 2021 – NOR & Entry Forms
The National Yacht Club is delighted to jointly host the Ruffian and Beneteau 31.7 Nationals from Friday 2nd (Ruffians only) to Sunday 4th July.
Please find below the respective links to the NORs and Online Entry Forms. Please note that due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be NO RACE OFFICE.
- There will be a briefing over the VHF (Ch. 72) by PRO Eddie Totterdell 15mns before the 1st Warning Signal of the 1st Race (only on the first day of racing, eg Friday for Ruffians and Saturday for Beneteau 31.7s)
- Protest forms are to be lodged online using this Hearing Request Form
