The Club’s fleet of three J80 Sportsboats, purchased in 2018 with Sports Capital Grant funding for the purpose of “Increasing women and teenagers’ participation” in sailing is shared between Women on the Water and the Club’s Under 25s. This fantastic asset is used primarily for DBSC racing as the structure for training and skills development. Over the past 5-6 years WOW members have availed of coached training on the J80s with some sailors progressing to uncoached sailing and onwards to owning their own boats to continue the adventure.
During 2023 WOW crews raced in the DBSC Summer Series in both coached and uncoached boats, participated in the VOLVO and J Cup Regattas and undertook some additional skills training away from Dublin Bay for another perspective on J80 sailing.
WOW crews are currently preparing for the DBSC Turkey Shoot and looking forward to some fun winter sailing.
