DESCRIPTION:Dear Fellow Members\, \nThe club is blessed with quite a few members who derive as much pleasure from sailing their yacht from one port to another as they might do from purely racing them. There are a few who undertake quite extended cruising\, quietly\, without fanfare\, relying purely on their own resources.  \nThere was in the past a “Cruising Group” within the club which\, amongst other things\, used to arrange National Yacht Club rallies. I remember these as a lot of fun.  \nThe Commodore has asked me to “test the waters” as it were\, to see if there is sufficient interest within the club to revive this group\, with the aim of sharing ideas\, daring tales of cruises\, and perhaps even arranging another NYC cruising rally.  \nTo start it off\, it has been decided to ask Pat Lawless\, of GGR fame\, to attend and speak at a Sailing Supper on the 28th of November. He has agreed to do so. \nWe would appreciate support for this talk\, as it was a very adventurous trip\, effectively undertaken.  We will use this opportunity to invite comments from the floor as to whether the group could be revived\, and what might be the best way to do it. \nBookings for the sailing supper and talk can be made on our website through the below link. \nPat Lawless Supper Book Here \nWe would appreciate your comments. SUMMARY:NYC Quiz Night
DESCRIPTION:Table Quiz \nThe ever-popular National Yacht Club table quiz is running again. \nEach year\, through the winter months\, we hold a series of table quizzes every second Wednesday. The quizzes are a very popular and enjoyable social event with questions suited to all tastes and ages. Last year\, we had a regular turnout of approximately 100 members and guests that made for entertaining evenings – as long as the Quizmaster plays along! \nThe quizzes run from 8pm to 10pm with prizes for the winners\, and the Brains of the Bay trophy awarded to the team with the best overall performance through the series. The best 7 results during the season count towards the final overall standings. \nTeams can consist of up to six persons per team\, with registration for the quiz costing only €10 (payable in cash on the night)\, with some food served to teams during the evening. In December and April\, we hold a dinner quiz where participants can dine before the quiz. \nNew participants are welcome – no qualifications needed! Just turn up on the night and answer the questions!

DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY 6th NOVEMBER – SUNDAY 18th DECEMBER NOTICE OF RACE \nA series of SEVEN races to be held on Sunday mornings organised by Dublin Bay Sailing Club. A progressive handicap on a time-on-time basis will be used.\nFor keelboats\, cruisers\, cruising boats\, one-designs and boats that do not normally race are very welcome.\nFirst gun 10.10 hrs.\nEntry fee €70.00 – includes temporary membership of Dublin Bay S.C. and Royal Irish Y.C.\nEntries on line at www.dbsc.ie\nAny problems with entry\, contact Rosemary Roy\, Hon.
