The NYC had great success in the Optimist Ulsters which took place in Malahide Yacht Club last weekend.
Twenty four sailors from the NYC took part in this event across 3 fleets.
Sam Ledoux, Leah Rickard, Conor Gorman, Fiachra Mc Donnell, Rian Geraghty-Mc Donnell, Luke Turvey, Hugh Turvey, Nathan van Steenberge, Lauren O’Callaghan, Ella Dempsey and Rachel Flood, sailed in Senior Fleet.
Rocco Wright, Clementine Van Steenberge,Lucia Cullen, Edward Dempsey, Conor Staunton and Adelaide Jullo sailed in Junior Fleet.
Ava Ennis, Caoilinn Mc Donnell, James Hall, Lizzie Hall, Kate Flood, Grace Gavin and Ciara O’Sullivan sailed in the Regatta Fleet.
Day 1 was nearly perfect sailing conditions in glorious sunshine with 4 races in all fleets with day 2 bringing more gusty conditions and 2 races.
There was great NYC representation at the prizegiving with the following results:
Senior Fleet
Sam Ledoux finished 2 nd place overall ,Leah Rickard finished 3 rd place overall and 1st Girl in the Senior Gold Fleet, Conor Gorman finished 4 th place overall, Fiachra Mc Donnell finished 5 th place overall, Rian Geraghty – Mc Donnell finished 6 place overall, Luke Turvey finished 8 th place overall ,Hugh Turvey finished 10th place overall and Nathan van Steenberge finished 13th place overall.
Lauren O’Callaghan finished 4th place in the Senior Silver Fleet.
Junior Fleet
Rocco Wright finished 1 st place overall, Clementine van Steenberge finished 3 rd place overall and Lucia Cullen finished 8 th place overall.
Regatta Fleet
Ava Ennis finished 2 nd place overall, Caoilinn Mc Donnell finished 3 rd place overall, James Hall finished 4 th place overall, Lizzie Hall finished 6 th place overall ,Kate Flood finished 7 th place overall, Grace Gavin finished 12 th place overall and Ciara O’Sullivan finished 14 th place overall.

All of our young sailors sailed really well over the 2 days.
All Parents and sailors were warmly welcomed by the volunteers at Malahide Yacht Club.
Parents were treated to tea, coffee and delicious scones, we would like to thank Mathew Ryan the Commodore, Colm Paul and all the Volunteers.
