Adult Sailing Courses 2023
NYC Adult Sailing Courses
We believe sailing is a wonderful gift in life. If you wish for it to be a part of yours or to improve your existing skills to enjoy it more or to learn so as to enjoy the sport with your Junior Sailor(s) – NYC Adult Sail Training can provide the opportunity.
We are running Adult Sailing courses for members and non-members alike to cover the basics, more complex stuff and racing roles.
Benefits of Sailing:
An outdoor, healthy activity – powered by the wind.
A sport for life – for young and old alike, for you or the whole family.
A multi-faceted activity – cruising, day trips, racing, ocean travel.
A great getaway from the office or busy life – even for a few hours.
Start Sailing – all the basics you need to be comfortable on a boat (no experience required).
Improve Sailing/Seamanship – the skills you need to be part of a team in medium conditions.
Courses will be run over 4 half days on Sundays (choice of either 10am-1pm or 2pm-5pm). Sailing is weather dependent – so sessions may need to be cancelled, in which case theory in a classroom or on deck will take place. Should a second session be cancelled, a ‘catch up’ outing the following Wednesday evening (6pm to 9pm) will be scheduled.
Courses will be run in J80s, a small, stable, fast and responsive, keelboat – best for the all round experience and a pathway to all yachts.
Instructors will be experienced members or coaches. NYC is an approved Irish Sailing Training Centre.
Courses can be accredited to the Irish Sailing Small Boat programme and used in conjunction with the Irish Sailing Passport. www.sailing.ie
