Our Cruising Group are delighted by the attendance and feedback we have received to the NYC’s Toolbox Talks. To date we have been exceptionally fortunate to have had qualified and insightful leads in these discussions and we are delighted to announce the series continues with yet another master in his field.
Planning is essential to any sail weather it’s crossing Dublin Bay or venturing further afield. As sailor we all naturally plan for the day sail by checking the weather, tides and condition of your vessel however how do we plan for beyond our comfort zone. The passage plan is an essential tool to taking you beyond the familiar however this is a wide and extensive subject differing depending on anticipated length and destination of the passage.
The next toolbox discussion, Planning for Adventure, will focus on the planning requirements for medium to long passages. Examples of which are:
Scillies Isles
Brittany Coast, France
Galicia, Spain
Azores Islands enroute back to Ireland
While some of these destinations might seem ambitious, we will discuss how correct planning will aid in alleviating many of the barrier which might prevent you from setting sail.
Our passage planning talk will be hosted by Frank Cassidy, holder of a coveted YachtMaster Ocean. Frank has decades of experience, having planned for and completed three Atlantic crossings, including a full Atlantic circuit, numerous trips to la Rochelle in France, Vigo in Spain and Flores in the Azores just to name a few of his exploits.
We hope you’ll join us at the NYC at 19:30 on 8 January for Planning for Adventure.
